The kiosks are located opposite the train station along the waterfront. We were able to travel free with our Swiss Travel Pass. The clerks spoke excellent English and could answer any questions.

We took a steamer to Vitznau to take the cogwheel up to Mount Rigi.

You can also take a ship to Alpnachstad for the funicular up Mount Pilatus.

The views from the water to Old Town Lucerne are priceless. For the most part, the trip was indeed peaceful and exciting at the same time.

There are bathrooms and kiosk to purchase items from the ship. Our first stop was the Transportation Museum. This is a world class museum and if you have any time, would recommend a visit.

You can also walk the lake trail to the museum from Lucerne. Either way, it is an inspiring museum.

The views of the Alps, particularly on a nice day, are memorable.

We wish we had time to explore the Park Hotel Vitznau as it looked spectacular from the lake.

Mount Rigi was clear when we visited. It is a spectacular mountain with fantastic vistas. The cogwheel is only two hundred feet from the ferry. We also took the cogwheel back down to take the ferry to Lucerne.
