“It has never failed to spout!”
Having visited Kauai five times, the Spouting Horn has never failed to spout, at least on our visits. Although some days it can go well over fifty feet.Located in Poipu, on the South Shore, it is fairly easy to find. There is no fee and you can stay here as long as you want. The Spouting Horn is near the Allerton Gardens, and if you have time, the National Tropical Botanical Garden is well worth a visit too.
If you can get there early or even later in the day, you may miss all the tourist busses. There is a fence near the Spouting Horn, and thus you can capture some awfully good pictures and videos.
A bathroom is nearby. Vendors on a regular basis sell souvenirs and artwork.
The authorities ask you not to feed the cats and chickens as they wander the area with complete freedom.
Even though you may not spend much time here, it is well worth your while to visit and see one of the wonders of Hawaii and what lava and sea can do.
