A Few Tips about Waikiki Beach
Even though it may look crowded, there is a place for you along this beach. This is one of the most iconic areas of Hawaii and the United States, and you have the right to be a part of it.
Most of the people just walk along the beach sidewalk admiring Duke Kahanamoku’s statue, the waterfall and attend the Hula show at night.
On our 5th visit to Waikiki, I finally forced myself to take a swim and walk along this famous beach. It was wonderful. I really felt part of “the scene.”The waves were not bad, and it was fun bobbing in the ocean. There is a break wall at one section of the beach which provides calmer waters. The ocean is quite refreshing.
You can witness all sorts of action that goes along Waikiki Beach. There are friendly Visitor Guides and the Hawaiian Police actually have an office in the middle of the Waikiki Beach. We always felt safe.
Showers, bathrooms and life-guards are available. There are “wade” pools, but I would not dip my feet in them as they become places for people to relieve themselves at night as I was told by a local.
