There is no doubt that Sailors Return is in the right location. Overlooking the marina that faces the St. Lucie River, there are many occasions that you can catch a beautiful sunset.
The owners, Bob and Tracy Davis, once operated a popular restaurant in town called, “The Jolly Sailor Pub.” The original Irish flair can still be had on the lunch menu with Curry Chicken, Bangers and Mash and the popular Shepard’s Pie.
Chef David is famous at Sailors producing meals from fish to steaks. The menu is quite varied meeting the palates of many patrons. Compared to prices “down south,” Sailors Return prices are not bad. There are items that will fit on everyone’s budget.
The “Eggplant Stack” is locally famous. I particularly enjoy the escargot made with several types of cheeses. My wife loves the Salmon Taco. A friend of mine always orders the Chicken Croissant sandwich.
We like coming during “Happy Hour” when prices are lower. Most of the week there are discounted drink prices and a reasonable bar menu.
There are two bar areas, one inside and outside, plenty of room for everyone. Improvement have been made with the large neat-looking tarps and a fountain on the north side of Sailors. The “River Walk” connects downtown to Sailors.
The staff is quite friendly and sociable. After a short while, you will get to know everyone by their first names. On certain nights and weekend afternoon’s music does play but ends around 10:00 PM due to the city’s noise ordinance.
Coming to Stuart you would be remiss by not trying Sailors Return at least once. You may even become regular patrons as we have become.
