There are several sailings each day. The website will tell the times and even some of the tour groups which have already booked. We circumvented going at a time when a young student group was going to be on boat.
Victory III is located just south of the Bridge of Lions by the Municipal Marina. The boat promptly leaves when noted and the tour is about an hour and fifteen minutes long. There are coupon book that will give you a dollar off and there is a price discount for seniors. Larry was quite helpful and pleasant at the front desk.
Captain Bob, a 15 year veteran of the company, guided the way with his commentary.
I found it interesting that the “Usina” family owns the company. The Usina’s are an important family in the history of St. Augustine. The bridge to Vilano Beaches, just north of the historic district, is named after Francis and Mary Usina. My wife felt, though, Captain Bob needed to talk more. I was just happy with the cool zephyr on my face.
There is upstairs and downstairs seating. For the most part, there was enough seating for everyone.
The ship will take you through the Bridge of Lions and around to the fort.
If you sit on the left, you will have full view of Castillo de San Marcos.
Eventually, the boat ride takes a turn to the east side of the famous lighthouse and midway through the inlet and then back through the bridge for a short while.
We were able to even spot a dolphin.
There are drinks and snacks sold at a reasonable price. Restrooms are on board too. Overall, we found this trip quite satisfying and pleasant.
