There are many travelers that ride past the Montezuma’s Castle exit. It is a pity they miss this monument, as it is spectacular. Located just five minutes from I-17, you could view the entire monument in about thirty minutes.

We actually came twice: one during a rain, and once during the sunshine. Both made great picture opportunities.

It is a short walk to see the Indian Ruins. A trail circles by the Beaver Creek River.

Walking around the loop, there is a neat display on how the Sinagua Indians lived.

We found this visit to be enlightening. Also, we visited and enjoyed Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma’s Well and the petroglyphs at the V-Bar V Ranch Heritage Site off of route 179 east of Sedona.
