The complex is on a cape a good three miles to downtown. The vistas from many of the condos are quite incredible. The famous “Arch”, the cruise ships coming and going and the fishing fleet that goes out every morning can be seen.
The apartment we had through VRBO was a penthouse in building 5, #5301, is well appointed with all the modern conveniences. Indeed, the view is spectacular.
Misiones is a bit isolated if you want to be away from the crowds.
We did have a “penthouse” third view condo over-looking Cabo San Lucas Bay and Pacific Ocean. In June, the price was $125 a day through VRBO.
On our last day, the sidewalks were just completed up to the main road which was about a half mile walk. We did not have a car and relied on the public buses. We arranged with “Gray Line” for airport transportation for about $80.
For a dollar, we got rides to Walmart and downtown several times. We walked the half mile up to the main road to catch the local busses which are not air-condition, but it was a neat way to see the local people. For a buck, it is the best value around.
There are two pools on the complex. We enjoyed the pool between the complexes. It is an inviting pool with a small waterfall. As we were there in the beginning of June, Pepe ran the bar and a small restaurant. I thought the hamburger was quite good and the drinks reasonable.
On one side is an isolated beach. No “hawkers” here. It is a nice beach and swimmable. Depending on where the waves came in, snorkeling is pretty good — not like Hawaii though.
We went to Sunset Point, a restaurant above the famous fine dining restaurant Monalisa on our first night. They are sister restaurants. We had a pizza at Sunset Point. An employee blows a conch to celebrate the sunset and another fine day in Cabo San Lucas. We tried to go another day, but they do close Sunset Point for special functions.
The other close restaurant is Puerto Vieja at the beginning of the road. We had several good meals there. At the time of our visit, Thompson Hotel had not been open as of yet. They will have several restaurants—although expensive.
There is a small store outside the complex. They are limited. A short bus ride away is WalMart and Costco. We took a taxi back for $14.
We did like Solomon’s Landing Restuarant in downtown Cabo San Lucas. The shrimp fajitas are quite tasteful. We were able to drink the local water too as they have filtration. The restaurant is situated right on the harbor, not too far from where Eco Cat docks, one of the largest party catamarans in the bay.
If you like surfing, a place called “Monuments” is by the Thompson Hotel a short walk away.
We met several people, all friendly, mostly from the west coast and Canada. Misiones would be an alternative to the hotels and resorts in Cabo San Lucas. Our price was right too. We paid $125 per night in June for a Penthouse view. The new Thompson Hotel just opened has a price tag of $600 per night.
Overall, it was an interesting and memorable 8 day stay. There is something about Cabo that attracts plenty of people.
