Having stayed at Hanalei Bay Resort five times since 1998 we have seen good and bad times. The fire to the restaurant of 2012 has caused a major disruption. We were told that the restaurant is soon to be open in the fall of 2015.
The fire did not discourage us to book this property in 2012 or 2015. It is situated beautifully over “Bali Hai” with impeccable views. It is those views and a good complex that draws us back.
We love walking the Princeville area from this resort.
We have seen the rare Nene several times on our walks.
The golf course makes it such a pretty walk and vistas of the surrounding mountains and sea are gorgeous.
You are quite close to St. Regis, the Queens Bath area and even Westin Resorts.
The pool at Hanalei Bay Resort is inviting. There is a small waterfall to add to the attraction. We have never found it too busy for a swim. One of these days the Resort will find time to finish off the bar area.
There are six lovely tennis courts on property. When we were there in April, the courts were redone for a tournament.
The ocean is just a short walk away. There is golf cart service, via a telephone call, to take you down or up this hill to the ocean. Although, there is a wait-time for the golf cart. The beach area is shared with the famous St. Regis Hotel.
The beach and snorkeling are good. You can always get a drink and food at the St. Regis bar area by the pool.
We have mostly used VRBO to acquire our rooms. We made a mistake this time by getting a studio without any views. There are studios and regular apartment with excellent views. We like the fact that many of these places have AC which is important to us.
We met the main manager Hanalei Bay Resort and he was most accommodating to fixing our problems. Our TV connection was fixed and they even cut a view palms down which were blocking our limited view.
They do have activities such as a “Wine Tasting Night,” and added “Food Trucks” on the property on designated nights.
Hanalei Bay Resort is conveniently located near the village of Hanalei. We found a short-cut by driving through the main tennis court area to get to the main road. In our last trip we found Hideaway’s Pizza Pub a short ways from the resort which is has good food.
There is presently a $15 dollar resort fee per day which is similar to many resorts in Hawaii.
We would not hesitate booking Hanalei Bay Resort for our sixth time.
