There appears to be two main grocery stores on the island, one being the IGA on Leeward Highway, and the other close to Salt Mills known as Graceway Gourmet.
We did find cheaper “ice cream” products at IGA as well as a few other products. Going to any one of these grocery stores is a wonderful alternative to the high priced restaurants in the area.
Graceway Gourmet, though, had a superb “salad bar” area filled with assortment of greens and vegetables.
What we liked most was the “Bahamian Conch Chowder.” The soup was the “red” variety with no potatoes and with plenty of conch. One batch was so good, that I claim it to be the “BEST” Conch Chowder we ever tasted. A container of soup cost $4.29, best deal on the island.
Graceway Gourmet could easily pass as a superb grocery store in the States.
Prices, though, are higher which is typical for the islands.
The Almond Croissant is also a very good found in the deli.
