Words can hardly express—fall short—in describing the beauty of this famous bay. Many times during the year the bay is quiet. Only during the high periods around Christmas do you see many people. The turquoise waters are so blue and clear and the powdery sand so soft on the feet, you can easily see why Grace Bay is ranked #1 in the world.
There are options on staying close to the beach. Going through VRBO is one of them. If you don’t mind a hotel setting, we recommend Sibonne Beach Boutique hotel. Prices there are reasonable considering the location. The famous resort company “Beaches” takes up a large area of Grace Bay. Prices there will vary depending on the time of year.
There are a number of fine restaurants. Mid-range places like Somewhere Café, Bay Bistro and Baci’s we highly recommend. There are quite a few higher end places like Coco Bistro which is highly recommended with its tropical setting.
We ended up eating out of the grocery store a number of times. We highly recommend Graceway Gourmet. There is an excellent salad bar and the Bahamian Conch Chowder is the best there for only $4.29.
If you are a beginning snorkeler, Coral Gardens Bight Reef system is highly recommended. For good swimmers and snorkelers, we recommend Smith’s Reef located off of Turtle Cove.
One of our highlights was to go on a half day tour with Caicos Dream Tours to “Half Moon Bay.” On a sunny day, it is absolutely beautiful. Part of the experience is to snorkel for conch which is later served for lunch.
Driving is on the left. Just remember to keep your outside shoulder always on the dividing line. Go slow as there are unmarked speed bumps and crazy—you know who–drivers going the wrong way.
Our first visit back in 2007 brought us back again in 2015. There is something special about Grace Bay you will never forget.
