Downtown Ft. Pierce has come a long way in its revitalization. There is an interesting mixture of old and new. One of those efforts in revitalization is the “Downtown Market” every Saturday morning along the marina. It is an extremely inviting place to visit.
We have been to the Saturday Market several times. There are quite a few vendors selling all sorts of foods. Some of these vendors even give away free samples. We have always purchased freshly made orange juice every time we visit.
There is usually a band playing and plenty of people enjoying the festivities. Sitting along the Marina’s walk-way seems to be the most common area to enjoy the sun and food.
Across the street is arts and crafts section of the market. This, too, is well attended with many vendors.
The area is surrounded by many fine restaurants with The Tiki Hut being right on the water’s edge.
Just north along Indian River Drive is a small Environmental Center and a art gallery. When it is cold, manatee’s like to conjugate by that small river next to the Center.
There is a free trolley that will take you through historic downtown Ft. Pierce. There is plenty to see and explore in downtown historic Ft. Pierce.
