Known as “The Oldest Restaurant in Santa Fe,” it is easy to find on Canyon Road. After viewing the many art galleries, this is an inviting place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Steak Fajitas were exceptional with all types of colored peppers that were presented. The meat was tender and good.
The salsa and tortillas were homemade.
As an appetizer we ordered the “Gambas Al Ajillo” which is sautéed Shrimp with Madeira wine. The sauce is excellent, although, the price of $12 is a tad pricy.
My wife had the chicken salad. El Farol did run-out of the original dressing that was supposed to be served with the salad. My wife thought the chicken was a bit dry.
The service with Niko was excellent and the ambiance along the patio just fine with the flower boxes. The view across the street, though, to all the newspaper vending machines could change. Parking is also available across the street.
Overall, we were satisfied with our meal at El Farol and would recommend at least one visit while exploring Canyon Road.
