Located about a half mile north of the historic district, it is not a bad walk. The “Giant Cross” and park is right across the street.
Boutiques, antique shops and restaurants line the way. Parking downtown will usually cost a fee.
This hotel had been recently renovated from a Ramada, and they have done a nice job.
The beds are comfortable, the staff friendly and the foyer area with the restaurant and bar is pleasing to the eye.
There is a fitness room, laundry available, computers and a nice swimming pool.
The swimming pool, though, faces north and the sun is blocked by the high-rise. Swimming in the summer seems to be an option.
The bathroom is still on the “small” size but doable. The granite counter curves out which makes getting to the sink a challenge for some. The water pressure was good.
We loved the small refrigerator and the microwave came in handy. Just a few more coffee creamers would have been nice.
We were located on the first floor where there was plenty of traffic. We did not hear any noise whatsoever.
The warm chocolate cookies that are handed out by the front desk are extremely tasty. My wife loved the fresh fruit bowl, too, by the main check-in counter. The candy bowl was extremely tempting also.
The only suggestion was the lack of breakfast attached to the price. There is a beautiful restaurant facility, but few people partaking due to the various hotel packages. I really feel this hotel would be “first class” if they had breakfast at every level. There are hotels that are closer in town that include breakfast.
We would come back if the price was right and breakfast not an issue.
