Sitting at the pub, drinking a beer or two, or having a good hamburger are images I conjure up while thinking of the Brown Cow.
Located on main street, the Brown Cow may be a little difficult to find as there is no pronounced sign. It is actually in a building with a hotel and three other restaurants. Nevertheless, you will not be disappointed with the service or the food.
We helped ourselves to a seat and someone came over.
A young man from Holland was filling in on a busy Saturday. He explained the menu with confidence. My wife ordered a Minestrone Soup and I had a “Stinky Burger” made with Blue Cheese. My wife thought the soup lacked any taste. She eventually said something to our waiter, who immediately took the soup back and had a new soup made. The chief agree that “they forgot an ingredient.” The new soup was absolutely delicious with plenty of vegetables. They did not even charge us for the soups.
My burger was pretty good.
We came back for a second time. We were served by a young woman from Hamburg, Germany. She could speak four different languages. She was so friendly and proficient. Once again we ordered the Minestrone Soup. It was so good, that my wife ordered one too. I had a “hot dog” with my soup. It was delicious.
If we ever come back to Zermatt, a visit to the Brown Cow in order.
