You cannot go wrong by booking this hotel. A short walk from the railroad station, this is an extremely comfortable and historical hotel.
We were given a room facing Lake Lugano with a balcony.
Our bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom modern.
Other rooms face an inviting heated pool area.
There is a rather inviting bar on premise and even a “Happy Hour” is offered.
The hotel actually makes its own wine for local consumption. Even though the train is close to the hotel, we found the sound insulation adequate. Maybe the AC helped too. If you have any sensitivity towards sounds, recommend you ask for a pool view.
Breakfast was exceptional. Most everything you would want was on several tables. The scrambled eggs and sausages were superb.
In the early 1900’s this hotel used to be called Hotel Beauregard. The German writer, Hermann Hesse, would write his first novel from this hotel in 1919. This hotel has quite a history.
The hotel says it is only a ten minute walk to downtown, but we found it to be at least 15 minutes. Coming back up may be a problem for some, but it is good exercise.
Our only regret about Continental Park Hotel is that we booked for only one night. At least two nights are needed to explore Lugano and really enjoy this superb hotel.
