I took an outside picture of the Basilica back in 1978. After many visits to St. Augustine, we made the time to go inside to see the “oldest” Catholic Diocese Church in the United States. What is most impressive is the beautiful ceiling of the Cathedral.
Admission is free unlike the counterparts of Notre Dame in Montreal or St. Paul’s in London. Designed like a cross, it is beautiful. Maybe not as stunning as Chartres or Notre Dame of Paris, there is a peaceful ambiance projected in this Holy space.
My wife did notice that “lighting of a candle” did cost $5 to $10 dollars. One most remember there are costs in operating any church.
