As we live over a hundred miles from Miami and having to take an early flight out, we decided to book this hotel. The decision was due for the extended car parking offered by this Embassy. A shuttle will take you to the airport or even the port of Miami.
We had Seri lead us to the hotel. It is a bit tricky coming from Route 112 as you actually have to back track to get the correct road to the hotel.
The foyer area is quite impressive and the front personnel friendly.
There is a beautiful waterfall in the atrium area.
We tried to obtain our room early by 3:00, but the room was not ready until 4:00. We decided to have a bite to eat at the hotel’s restaurant, Grill 305. There are no closer restaurants.
One of the major runways has planes flying directly over the hotel. You can still hear the jets as they fly over from our 6th floor bedroom. You may want to ask for a bottom floor to help against the sound. After a while, you get use to the sound and tone out the noise with your TV.
The rooms are your standard Embassy Suite room, but we somehow received a “handicap” room. We really don’t prefer these rooms as they are laid out differently. We did not want to fight the issue as we were there for only a night.
This Embassy has a very large and inviting pool area. It is secluded in a tropical setting. People were swimming and using the large hot-tub too.
The workout area had a number of treadmills and free weights. We did use the business office to acquire our boarding passes. Three of the four computers worked very well.
We thought the cocktail hour was weak. Normally, there is some real food offered. In this case, pretzels. It is advertised that Hors d’ oeuvre and drinks are offered free with your room starting at 5:00 pm. Pretzels don’t count in my opinion.
My wife did leave her pocketbook at one of the tables. I went down to where we sat, and the people next to us said, “The bartender took the purse to the front office.” We appreciated the honesty and quick response.
Breakfast is served at 6:30 am on a weekday. It is your standard cook to order Embassy breakfast. All the egg plates had to go through the cooking line. There was no separate do-it-yourself buffet line. I can’t say the doughnuts were tempting as they were your standard Costco bought items. The bagels are your standard white foodstuff.
The shuttle leaves every half hour. They arrive and depart on the same level and we had no problem coming back. The driver offered a free bottle of cold water. It is cold spring water and refreshing.
Given circumstances, we would probably book this Embassy Suites again. I would definitely bring my bathing suit. And, I would make mention about leaving out the handicap room for those that really need it.
