2015 Hawaii S100 2866
The vistas are spectacular.

Located in Princeville off the major road and turning right on Punahele Road. Keep going straight for a short ways until you see the sign “Queens Bath.” There are but 10 parking spots.

The rule is enforced.

If you decide to park in the street you may get a fifty dollar fine and a booted wheel. It was posted twice. At 8:30 AM, there was but four spaces left.

Parking is limited.

The trail down can be muddy. My wife fell down on her backside the first time we took the trail in 2012.

It was right down on that trail that my wife slipped on her butt in 2012. It can get muddy and slippery.

The trail also has plenty of roots, so take your time. In parts, it can get narrow. If you have claustrophobia regarding narrow trails, this place is not for you.

Before you reach the lava, there is a small but pretty waterfall.

In the summer the waters are calmer.

Life-guard “rescue tubes” are close by just in case. The ocean can get rough and people have died here.

As you will soon see, this area was where lava poured into the sea causing several interesting formations.

Also, it is a great area to look down the coast to see “Bali Hai.”
