Walking down Ali’i Drive at 5:00 PM, I wanted to visit the oldest Christian Church in Hawaii. The door had just closed before I could enter. The woman inside saw me and was nice enough to open the door for me to see this beautiful church. It was technically, closing hours, but Roxanne was kind enough to allow me to visit. Real “Aloha” at this church!

Roxanne saved the day by opening the door past visiting hours.

Not very elaborate, but still very beautiful nonetheless with plenty of Koa wood.

Koa wood was used to build the interior of this church.

At the back of the church is a small museum with a ship model of the brig Thaddeus on display. The brig Thaddeus brought the Christian settlers to shore back in 1820. 2015 marks the 195th celebration of Mokuaikaua.

A small museum is in the church.

The church is situated across from the Hulihe’e Palace. Right across the road is a beautiful banyan tree, and if you are present at sunset, you are treated to a thousand birds chirping away.
