This franchise restaurant began in 2012, and the St. Augustine location opened three days before Christmas of 2015. The franchise was made famous on the Food Network. This Maple Street Biscuit store is located on 39 Cordoba Street, near Flagler College. It is well operated and the service and food are good.

Unlike other restaurants with table service, your name is called out when your food was ready. An interesting twist is that you choose an actress or actors name. We selected “Harrison Ford,” since my wife thinks we have similar hair. Somebody selected “Tom Cruise.”

The primary hours are from 7:00am-2:00pm, the main food is a flaky biscuit sandwich, i.e., fried chicken, sausage gravy and several vegetarian varieties with eggs of your choosing. I selected two eggs over easy with the biscuit on the side. It was definitely flaky, but the eggs were a tad overdone.

An order of “Hashups” was recommended which consisted of potatoes, smoked ham, red and green peppers, grilled onions, mushrooms and melted cheese. The plate is huge enough to take home and have for two more days. I recommended there should be a half order of this plate.

My order also came with “pecan wood smoked bacon”. It is delicious. The only regret with the bacon is that there were only two small pieces. Another piece is at least needed.

The seats are comfortable and the establishment esthetically pleasing. Knowing that we were first “timers” to the restaurant, the owner brought over two glazed sweet biscuits. It was delicious.

The young woman at the counter was extremely helpful in explaining the menu. Next time the biscuit sausage gravy sounds like something I would order.
