Located in the historic district of Santa Fe, this museum is easy to find. The Museum is designed in an attractive Adobe style building. The museum opens promptly at 10:00 AM on the weekdays.

After paying the $12 admission, we were told we could add on to our ticket the New Mexico Art Museum where forty of Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting was on display. There were about twenty or so paintings in the O’Keeffe Museum. It is odd that we had to go elsewhere to view O’Keeffe paintings. Why even have this museum?

“Above the Clouds I” can be seen here. The larger brother of this painting is in the Chicago Art Museum.

Known for her art work of flowers, cow skulls and the southwest, there were no “skull” paintings to view i.e. we had to pay extra and walk to the N.M. Art Museum to do so.

Half of the work could not be photographed due to licensing infringement. We saw more of O’Keeffe’s masterwork at the Chicago Museum of Art and the Metropolitan in NYC where taking pictures was no problem.

This famous painting by O’Keeffe is found at the Chicago Art Museum.

There is a unique 1944 photograph poster by Maria Chabot of Georgia on a motorcycle. We did find the documentary film of Georgia’s life that was informative. Overall, we felt disappointed in our O’Keeffe Museum experience.
